In-House Coating Capabilities at NATBM

At NATBM, we take pride in performing all coating processes in-house, ensuring full control over quality, consistency, and delivery timelines. Our specialized coating division is equipped to handle a wide range of high-performance finishes in accordance with international standards.

Coating Processes Offered:

• Electro Zinc Plating (with optional Hydrogen De-Embrittlement) – Available in various colours.
  Standards: BS EN ISO 2081, BS 7371, ASTM B633.

• PTFE – Fluorocarbon Coatings – Including Xylan 1014, Xylan 1052, Xylan 1070, and Xylan 1424 (available in various colours).

• Ceramic Filled Fluorocarbon Coatings – Xylar 1 and Xylar 2 systems for superior corrosion and wear resistance.

Pre-Coating Preparation

Before the plating or coating process begins, every component undergoes a thorough preparation cycle to ensure optimal adhesion and performance:

• Surface Cleaning: All metal surfaces are cleaned using chemical or thermal degreasing methods to remove contaminants.

• Surface Blasting: Components are blasted with the appropriate abrasive medium to achieve the ideal surface profile for coating.

PTFE Coating Process & Quality Assurance

For all components requiring PTFE (Fluorocarbon) coating, NATBM follows a meticulous and controlled multi-stage process:

1. Basecoat Application: Depending on the specification, a phosphate layer, sacrificial zinc base coat, primer, or Xylar/ceramic metallic basecoat is applied.

2. Topcoat Application: Surfaces are evenly sprayed with the selected PTFE – Fluorocarbon coating to achieve the manufacturer’s specified dry film thickness.

3. Thermal Curing: Components are thermally cured in precision-controlled ovens to ensure maximum adhesion, hardness, and corrosion resistance.

4. Verification & Testing:
   Each batch undergoes a comprehensive inspection that includes:

   • Cure Test

   • Adhesion Test

   • Thickness Measurement

   • Pencil Hardness Test

   Environmental parameters such as Relative Humidity, Dew Point, Substrate Temperature, and Air Temperature are also recorded to maintain full traceability and quality documentation.

Through these rigorous in-house processes, NATBM guarantees coatings that deliver exceptional durability, corrosion resistance, and performance — meeting the most demanding industrial requirements.
